"I Wanna Know What Love Is"

Love (noun): The feeling of love towards a person or thing.

Firstly, why is love a noun? In school - as my little brother says - they teach children that a noun is a "person, place or thing". And there is nothing wrong with that; the dictionary states that a noun is a word that stands for a person, place or thing. Turning to my brother again, he is now saying that love is an abstract noun - an abstract noun being a feeling or emotion. If it is an abstract noun, why does my trusty Oxford Pocket School Dictionary just say 'noun'?

Anyway sure, it's an emotion, but it comes in all kinds of forms. Each person you ask gives you a different definition of the word. Actually, no, that is a lie. Each thoughtful person you ask gives you a different definiton of the word. Each careless, boring person you ask will tell you love is the feeling of love towards a person or thing...or something along those lines. But its the thoughtful person's definition that is important - that you should take in.

Personally, I think they should leave it blank in the future. If they are unsure, then instead of stating the wrong thing, they should leave it blank, and therefore it is up to your imagination and thought, to decide what you think it is.

Back to the idea that love comes in all forms, it is true. As you will find out find out from the different opinions you recieve when you ask a variety of people. The romantics may say love is "friendship on fire"*, or "an act of tender forgiveness"*. Some may describe love as a solid, yet simple thing: "Love is when someone gives you one of their french fries but doesn't expect you to give them one back"**

Personally, I believe love is...when you can look into his eyes and know that you are in love. When you can see trust, and perfection - you do not see flaws or problems. All of your problems mysteriously drift out of your mind when you look into his eyes.

*quotes taken from about.com - the result I got when I googled 'What is love?'.
** quote clearly a young child's idea of love - but an adorable one, even still.

P.S. The image is what I found when I typed LOVE into Google Images, among other things, such as Jennifer LOVE Hewitt, and "Jungle LOVE" from Family Guy! I turned to Google, as I didn't know how to illustrate this post, and thought 'Hey, why not just paste whatever appears in Google. Maybe there'll be something useful'. I had no idea I was right. "I LOVE THIS PICTURE!"
